Students elect next year’s Student Senate executives and representatives
Ohio University students elected Student Senate executives and representatives on Tuesday for the 2022-2023 school year.
Dayna Shoulders was elected as Student Senate president, Luvina Cooley as vice president and Trinity Robinson as treasurer. All three ran as independent, write-in candidates due to position declaration deadlines.
This year, only 638 students voted compared to the 854 in the 2021-2022 election. Shoulders received 311 votes, defeating Brogan Speraw, her closest competitor, by 99 votes. Cooley and Robinson received 283 and 305 votes respectively.
Other candidates also ran for executive positions, but no one running for president other than Shoulders and Speraw received over 8 votes. Corrin Smith had the second highest number of votes for vice president with 54 votes and Austin Nutter came third with 25.
