The advertising policy applies to all advertisements and commercial content sold by and appearing on/in The New Political publications, digital, and social platforms. The New Political will not print, place, or promote advertising that violates local, state or federal laws.
The New Political will not run advertisements that are in violation of the Fair Housing Act, or the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission policies – which deem it illegal to discriminate due to race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy), national origin, age, disability or genetic information.
The New Political reserves the right to reject advertising deemed to adversely affect the integrity and credibility of the publication or be in conflict with the educational mission of the university community it serves. The New Political retains the right, at its discretion, to approve or reject an advertisement that negatively affects the relationship with our readers or that promotes content, services, or activities that violate our advertising policy.
The New Political does not endorse political candidates. The New Political will accept political advertising, as a business transaction, from nonprofit, nonpartisan groups and cause based ads focused on ballot issues. The New Political will not place advertising on its platforms that name a candidate within the advertising content. Local political advertising must be paid in advance; nationally brokered political advertising must be paid within 60 days of placement and is charged at the current published, undiscounted rate per insertion or impression.
The New Political will place, at no additional charge, FEC required disclaimers on all political advertising banners and reserves the right to remove any messages that are deemed inflammatory, libelous or in bad taste.
Sole responsibility of advertising content rests with the advertiser. If an error occurs, and an ad is published not as ordered, please notify The New Political by the end of the business day following publication, a corrected ad will run without charge in the next print edition of The New Political, refunds for printed advertisements will not be given. Should there be an error in an ad, The New Political and thenewpolitical.com liability is limited to the amount paid for the portion of the ad containing the error. These advertising policy rules can be changed at any time without prior notification.
Cancellation requests for advertising must be received and acknowledged by staff no later than 2:00 p.m. the week prior to insertion in special print editions. Cancellation requests for digital and social advertisements must be given 48 hours in advance of the designated start date and acknowledged by staff.
