Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reports over 1.3M jobless claims
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) reported an additional 35,430 jobless claims for the week of June 6, bringing the state’s total to 1,327,843 jobless claims in the past 12 weeks.
For the same week, the U.S. The Department of Labor reported 1,542,000 new claims.
Ohio has distributed over $3.8 billion in unemployment compensation to more than 686,000 people in the past 12 weeks.
As of May 30, the Department of Labor reported approximately 20.9 million Americans were receiving unemployment benefits.
“All eligible Ohioans will receive their unemployment benefits – and any delays in processing their claims will not reduce the amount received. ODJFS will not rest until all eligible Ohioans are served,” ODFJS said in a press release.
The ODJFS encourages Ohioans to file unemployment claims online for the quickest turnaround time, however they can also file via phone call at 1-877-644-6562. Call center hours have been extended to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
ODJFS said any delays in processing unemployment claims will not result in reduced unemployment funds or benefits.More information about Ohio unemployment benefits or filing a claim can be found at unemployment.ohio.gov.
