OUPD Police Report: Another sex crime, forgery case top week in crime

Hardly a week passed before another email went out to students for a gross sexual imposition case.A male, aged 19- to 20-years-old with a lean build and dirty blond hair, approached a woman while walking down Morton Hill. He approached her and initiated conversation, and when the two reached the intersection of Stewart Street and N. McKinley Ave., commonly known as “South Beach;” the man attempted to kiss her and grab her breast.The victim was able to fight him off and escape by foot with no injuries. This case is still under investigation by OUPD, but it announced Thursday that a suspect, 19-year-old Michael A. Conti, has been charged in connection to the crime.On Feb. 19, officers responded to a call at Wilson Hall for what was a possible fight between a resident and her boyfriend. The boyfriend was identified as Sean T. Prather. Neither Prather nor his girlfriend wanted to pursue charges against one another as it was stated to be mutual combat. However, the unnamed girlfriend hit her head during the altercation and was taken to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital for medical examination. Police found Prather’s breath had an odor of alcohol as well as other signs of intoxication, such as bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Prather was then transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail pending his sobriety. A similar incident happened in James Hall on Feb. 23 when a student was charged in connection to assault and disorderly conduct by intoxication.Feb. 16 took OUPD to Grosvenor Hall for a forgery investigation. It was reported that a student had attempted to withdraw money from a student organization’s account on “suspicious circumstances.” The forgery case is still under investigation.OUPD responded to a fire alarm at Crawford Hall on Feb. 20. An officer determined the alarm was activated due to a sprinkler valve opening in the parking garage under the building. There are no witnesses at this time.Also on Feb. 20, OUPD stopped a purple 2000 Honda Civic on S. Court Street and Union Street. Officers indicated the driver of the car was 20-year-old Amari Gamble. The vehicle was emitting a strong odor of marijuana, which is why the officer turned his emergency lights on.Gamble was then placed under arrest in connection to OVI and was issued a citation for possession of marijuana. Passenger Nicole Thippavong was also issued a citation in connection to possession of marijuana. This case is closed.
