Ceiling tiles, a drunken man, malfunctioning projects and illegal digging of university property led to investigations and arrests by Ohio University Police this week.OUPD noticed damage to ceiling tiles in the South Green Parking Garage on January 31. While there are no investigative leads as of now, the case is still open.The case for the damaged ceiling tiles remains open, a drunken man found in Siegfried Hall has been taken to jail. James McCabe, a 37 year old, was found visibly intoxicated in Siegfried Hall. The signs of intoxication were “evident”—he was unable to stand unassisted, had glassy, bloodshot eyes and the strong odor of an intoxicating beverage on his breath.On the same day things were getting hot in the Research and Technology Building. A student’s project had malfunctioned, which led to an electrostatic precipitator catching on fire. The fire was extinguished with a fire extinguisher, but the total damage totaled $100.The Jefferson rooftop club is still under investigation, but OUPD was able to bury a man digging in university property. On February 7, 28-year-old Caleb Brown was found digging up landscaping behind the Claire Oates Ping Cottage. While his motives are unreported, he has been charged with criminal mischief.
