Trump travel ban halted by federal judge in Washington
As of about 8 p.m. Feb. 3, James Robart, a federal judge from in Washington State, has granted an order halting Trump’s immigration order nationwide. This marks the first major judicial roadblock to the Trump administration’s agenda since Inauguration Day. The ensuing legal battle will surely be long as Trump and his administration have begun the appeal process, while analysts speculate the case will most likely reach the Supreme Court.
Trump lashes out against ruling
Trump tweeted out to his followers on Saturday expressing his disapproval over the ruling:“The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!” The Justice Department quickly moved to appeal the decision and filed an emergency stay motion in order to restore the immigration ban, which was denied by the appeals court. On Sunday he returned to Twitter in order to continue the PR battle against the ruling.
“Just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. If something happens blame him and court system. People pouring in. Bad!”
The president tweeted out on Sunday afternoon before attending his Super Bowl party that he apparently left early after the Patriots disappointing start.
