Opinion: Get money out of politics

According to Time magazine, Congress has a nine percent approval. But according to the Washington Post, Congress has a 90 percent incumbency rate. According to the nonpartisan, Center for Responsive Politics, “...in 93 percent of House of Representatives races and 94 percent of Senate races it was the candidate who spent the most money who ended up winning”. These statistics clearly show how much money has become inscribed throughout the political structure.This is not a single party problem. This is a problem that has infected both parties and turned our hard won and defended Republic into nothing more than a plutocracy, where corporate interests rule like divine mandate. Lawmakers are supposed to represent our interests, not whoever is going to bankroll their next campaign. We elected them to help us build a world in which we would all want to live. This issue represents our interests, according to the Hill, a newspaper inside the Beltway, “...81 percent of people surveyed said the current campaign spending rules are ‘bad for democracy’”.There is one organization that has garnered a large following to deal with this, Wolf-Pac. Started by the news outlet The Young Turks, they are working in a bipartisan effort in order to pass bills in enough states to call a constitutional convention for their 28th Amendment that would be loosely worded:"Corporations are not people. They have none of the Constitutional rights of human beings. Corporations are not allowed to give money to any politician, directly or indirectly. No politician can raise over $100 from any person or entity. All elections must be publicly financed."The reason the states are so important is because you are able to surpass the Federal part of the government which is the most under the sway while state representatives and senators actually represent you. They will listen to you. All you have to do is call up your local state representatives and senators in order to get this through.
