Student Senate holds vote removing Isaac Davis as vice president

Last night, towards the end of their weekly Student Senate meeting, the senate held a vote of no-confidence during executive session, meaning a vote took place in which the press and other observing persons were not allowed to listen in.

When asked to comment the night of the vote senators declined stating they would not comment at this time.

In accordance with rules and procedures, a vote is held once a semester to determine whether the three executive officers are fit to remain in office. 

22 of 32 present members voted to remove Vice President Isaac Davis from his position, surpassing the two-thirds majority needed to remove an executive officer according to an official statement from student senate. 

“We have witnessed the vote of no confidence fulfilling the purpose it was implemented to serve,” President Megan Handle said in a comment. “Repetitive failure to execute duties and unwillingness to improve is not acceptable within our body.”

The vacancy will be filled by a current student body member at student senate's next general body meeting on Feb. 24th. Nominations will be accepted and a new vice president will be selected with a plurality of votes. 

“I am proud of the members of our body for the decorum and professionalism they have shown throughout this process and I have full faith that our body will continue to smoothly operate through this transition,” Handle said.
