Early this morning, a wild bobcat was spotted roaming around College Green. Though Athens Wildlife Removal was called to the scene immediately, the bobcat has not yet been contained and is still roaming around Ohio University’s campus.

Since its first sighting this morning, numerous reports of sightings from different students on campus have been reported.

One student reported having seen the bobcat on the 6th floor of Alden Library. It was looking for some peace and quiet.

Another student, requesting anonymity, said they saw the bobcat at Baker Center. It was riding up and down the escalators. It also stopped by Starbucks and used its Bobcat cash to pay for a drink.

Later, it was seen at Ping. After using the Stairmaster, the bobcat could be seen lying in one of the massage chairs.

Finally, someone said they saw the bobcat at Donkey Coffee for another caffeine boost. It ordered a Vanilla Chai with oat milk.

Jack Slemenda saw it near The New Political’s staff room. The bobcat was trying to pitch a story and grab a newspaper.

OUPD said it saw the bobcat walking up and down Mill Street. Unfortunately for this bobcat, Mill Fest is long over.

Numerous claims have also been made of the wild bobcat hanging outside Jackie O’s, reportedly waiting for it to open.

If the wild bobcat is contained, Ohio U may consider keeping it on campus and naming it Rufus. This would be similar to Louisiana State University’s live tiger mascot, Mike the Tiger, who lives in a habitat on LSU's campus. Pumpkin the cat may have some competition.

If you see this wild bobcat, please report it to Ohio U faculty immediately.

Happy April Fool’s Day, Bobcats!
