Athens buildings to know to be politically active

Athens City Building

At the Athens City Building, Athens representatives meet for government body meetings such as city council. These meetings are open to the public and are opportunities to connect with your representatives. 

Board of Elections

At the Athens County Board of Elections, you can register to vote in Athens, change your voting address and participate in early voting. The BOE is also next to the county building where Athens County officials such as the treasurer and auditor work, where you can also register to vote. 

Baker Center

Baker Center is the polling location for all dorm halls except Bromley and Voigt Halls. To check your voting precinct, go to https://lookup.boe.ohio.gov/vtrapp/athens/pollfinder.aspx#. Student government offices are also housed in Baker Center. 

Athens County Courthouse

The Athens County Courthouse is located close to the Board of Elections. You may need to frequent the building if you’re a registered Athens voter and are called for jury duty. 

Athens Public Library

The Athens Public Library is a polling location for some voting precincts in Athens. To check your voting precinct, go to https://lookup.boe.ohio.gov/vtrapp/athens/pollfinder.aspx#. You can also register to vote at the library. The Athens League of Women Voters has hosted debates here. 

First Presbyterian Church

Voting location for Bromley Hall and Voigt Hall and some voting precincts. To check your voting precinct, go to https://lookup.boe.ohio.gov/vtrapp/athens/pollfinder.aspx#.

Ohio Means Jobs Center

The Ohio Means Jobs Center is a polling location for some voting precincts. To check your voting precinct, go to https://lookup.boe.ohio.gov/vtrapp/athens/pollfinder.aspx#.

The Dairy Barn Arts Center

Athens Community Center

The Athens Community Center is a polling location for some voting precincts. To check your voting precinct, go to https://lookup.boe.ohio.gov/vtrapp/athens/pollfinder.aspx#. The Athens League of Women’s Voters has hosted candidate forums here.
