Special Congressional General Election Ballot 

Republican Mike Carey defeated Democrat Allison Russo for Representative to Congress (15th district), with 58.43% voting for Carey and 41.57%% voting for Russo as of 11:00 p.m.

Athens City Council

Democrat Chris Knisely, who ran unopposed, remains President of Council. 1,924 voted for Knisely, while the rest of the voters voted for write-in candidates or withheld from voting. 

Democrats Sarah Grace, Micah McCarey and Ben Ziff were voted into Council at-Large seats defeating Independents Iris Virjee and Damon Krane, with 26.54% voting for Sarah Grace, 26.6% voting for Micah McCarey, 26.14% voting for Ben Ziff, 11.22% voting for Iris Virjee and 9.5% voting for Damon Krane. 

Democrats Solveig Spjeldnes, Jeffrey Risner, Sam Crowl and Alan Swank, who ran unopposed, all remain Councilmembers for their respective wards. 324 voted for Spjeldnes, 451 voted for Risner, 568 voted for Crowl and 500 voted for Swank, while the rest of the voters voted for write-in candidates or withheld from voting. 

Athens County Municipal Court

Todd L. Grace, who ran unopposed, remains Judge of the Athens County Municipal Court, and 7,215 voted for Grace, while the rest of the voters voted for write-in candidates or withheld from voting. 

Township of Athens

Brian Baker and Steven H. Pierson were elected Athens Township Trustees, with 2,146 voting for Baker and 2,189 voting for Pierson. 

Athens City School District

Paul Grippa, Sean Parsons and Charity Wilhelm were elected Members of the Board of Education at Athens City School District, with 2,793 voting for Grippa, 2,631 voting for Parsons and 2,369 voting for Wilhelm. 

The Issues

Issue 1, a renewal of a tax for the benefit of Athens County for providing for emergency medical services, passed. 75.56% of the voters voted for the renewal of the tax, while 24.44% voted against the renewal of the tax.

Issue 2, a renewal of a tax to benefit Athens County in order to provide support for senior citizens services and facilities, passed. 76.95% of the voters voted for the renewal of the tax, while 23.05% voted against the renewal of the tax.

Issue 20, a renewal of a tax to benefit Athens-Hocking-Vinton Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services District, passed. 69.63% of the voters voted for the renewal of the tax, while 30.37% voted against the renewal of the tax.
