Ohio U faculty and staff to begin remote work Monday

All Ohio University staff and faculty who can complete all or a portion of their work remotely will begin doing so Monday, March 16 in a university-wide effort in coordination with public health officials to reduce the number of employees on all campuses amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

All administrative supervisors have been asked to contact employees no later than 12 p.m. on Monday to discuss possible remote work options, according to a statement from the university.

The university anticipates that “very limited service gaps” will be caused by employees’ transition to a remote work environment, but the change should be “relatively seamless,” according to the statement.

“Meaningful work will be available for all employees throughout this transition, and the University will also use this opportunity to provide job-related training and professional development as needed,” the statement reads.

Classes are set to resume online beginning March 23 after Ohio U’s extended spring break.

No coronavirus cases have been reported on Ohio U’s Athens campus or any regional campuses as of Sunday evening, and the risk of virus transmission on campus is believed to be low. Those who are ill were instructed to not come to campus.
