A thief remains at-large following two separate armed robberies early Thursday morning in Athens, one of which occurred on campus where an Ohio University student was victim.

The Athens Police Department first responded at 12:10 a.m. to Rufus Drive on Ohio U’s South Green, near Nelson Drive, where a student said they were robbed at gunpoint, according to a police report.

The robber, who carried a silver gun, stole the student’s wallet, driver's license, gift cards, laundry card and $200 cash, police said.

The other robbery occurred off campus at 12:35 a.m. near the intersection of West Union Street and South Shafer Street where a $600 smartwatch and $3 cash were stolen at gunpoint from another individual, according to police.

The thief -- described as a thin, white male with dark, short hair and a scruffy beard -- fled both robberies in an early 2000’s black four-door vehicle, police said.

None of the victims were injured, according to police. Anybody with information related to either robbery is encouraged to call APD at 740-592-3313.
