Student Senate passes "delicious" resolution, appoints new Women's Affairs senator

Student Senate passed resolution to purchase bake sale supplies; as well to appoint a Woman's Affair Commission Senator.

[dropcap txtcolor="#234a83" style="dropcap1"]S[/dropcap]tudent Senate unanimously voted to purchase supplies for the LGBTQA+ Affairs bake sale and to appoint a new senator at the body’s Wednesday night meeting. The LGBTQA+ Affairs bake sale is designed to raise money for a cash prize for the winner of a t-shirt design contest hosted by the LGBT Center. The supplies provided by the Senate will cost $65.  “It passed the committee, it looks very delicious,” Cole Neuhart, a budget committee member, said. In other news, the project manager for a sexual assault prevention app left the university. The Senate committee for the project has already chosen a replacement, Hannah Burke, vice president of the Student Senate, said. The sexual assault prevention app is designed for students to quickly and effectively seek authorities whenever they feel unsafe in or around campus. Senate is still working on moving the project into its implementation phase, although it still needs its final approval to move to the next phase of the project, Burke said. Student Senate President Maddie Sloat also discussed the recent death of Ohio University freshmen Collin Wiant, who was found unresponsive at an apartment on Mill Street. He was declared dead at OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital Monday morning. “We are thinking of Collin Wiant and his family,” Sloat said. “We encourage anyone to seek out support services if they need to do so.” Senate also unanimously passed a resolution to appoint Betty Miller to the Women’s Affair Commission.
