Ohio U Campus Crime: Thievery, an odd phone call and the aftermath of a typical Athens weekend

Rain is falling, GPAs might be plunging, and crimes are still abundant. The following crimes were all filed by the Ohio University Police Department.

A crime is afoot

A report was taken out of Porter Hall on Wednesday that referred to missing university funds from the building. The case was filed as a theft.

Criminals commit vague crimes

A “negative criminal activity” was reported at the Child Development Center on Tuesday. There is no further information on the incident.

A suspicious phone call labeled as “harassment” was filed on Wednesday. There was no further information.

Drunken revelers are busted for intoxication and identity fabrication

With spring comes Fest Season, and more arrests and citations for drug and alcohol offenses. There were three arrests for underage consumption of alcohol and intoxication this past weekend, with two cases ending in transportation to jail. One was also charged with possession of a fake ID. There were additionally four other people cited for possession of marijuana between Saturday and Monday.

Mischievous criminals commit criminal mischief

Three cases of criminal mischief were reported in residence halls this past week. A dry sprinkler system became charged in Jefferson Hall on Friday, causing the fire system to go into alarm. The case is still under investigation. Meanwhile two cases of destruction of property were reported on Monday, one in Crawford Hall and the other in Scott Quadrangle.

Athens has had no shortage of unlawful drivers lately. There was one citation given for driving under license forfeiture suspension, two for driving under court suspension, and one for driving under non-compliance suspension.
