Ohio U Campus Crime: A stolen parking permit
Another week of classes come with another week of crime on Ohio U's campus. Let's jump into it.
The High Life
OUPD saw eleven total citations this week for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, with the majority of these citations given out on the weekend.
Rum-Dums
There were three alcohol-related arrests this week. Two of these arrests were due to disorderly conduct by way of intoxication on Sept. 29 and Oct. 3.On Oct. 2 at 1:38 a.m., one student was given a citation for being in possession of a fake ID in addition to being arrested for underage consumption. One student received a citation for underage consumption.[AdSense-A]
Simply Traffic and Property
OUPD reported five total traffic incidents this week. Of these five, only two have been deemed worthy enough to be reported on in this article. First off, on Sept. 28 at 7:15 p.m., OUPD received a report indicating that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on Race Street. While the precise location is unclear, crossing Race Street is, in general, a risky maneuver for a pedestrian, with its awkward hill that makes it difficult for vehicle operators to see a pedestrian at night. Or, perhaps pedestrians should pay more attention to their surroundings.There was also what OUPD classifies as a “hit/skip”, on Oct. 4 at 3:00 p.m. in Parking Lot 128 which, in essence, is a hit-and-run. Keeping with the theme of property destruction, there were six reports of property destruction this week. Two of these reports concerned graffiti, both of which were filed on Sept. 29 in reference to Glidden and Nelson Hall. The remaining reports concerned criminal mischief, a missing smoke detector in Sargent Hall, damage to a water fountain in James Hall and a damaged tire in Parking Lot 111; the latter three all occurred on Oct. 2.
Thieves Among Us
OUPD received four reports of theft this week. Among what was reported as stolen this week include a parking permit, misuse of an Ohio-P card and a bicycle. The property stolen from an Ohio U student in one report was undisclosed.
