Campus Crime: A spike in marijuana related citations
Hide your marijuana paraphernalia. OUPD cracked down on bongs, bowls and rolling papers this week, as nearly double the amount of citations were issued for cannabis related crimes.
[dropcap txtcolor="#214985"]A[/dropcap]part from drug paraphernalia, Ohio University Police Department officers delivered citations for alcohol-induced incidents on campus and investigated a damaged smartphone and a missing banner, along with other campus crimes.
Influx of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia Citations
The amount of citations OUPD gave this week for the possession of drug paraphernalia nearly doubled. OUPD cited 22 individuals this week for illicit marijuana possession and 13 individuals for the possession of drug paraphernalia. In comparison, only seven people were cited for possession of drug paraphernalia last week.One arrest was made this week for felony drug possession.[AdSense-A]
Alcohol in Ohio U’s Halls
OUPD cited two individuals this week for underage alcohol consumption (UAC), while one was arrested for a DUI. One person was also cited for possession of a fake ID.
Crimes Against Community
A criminal mischief report filed on Sept. 2. states an iPhone was damaged on Mill Street.On Sept. 3, an OUPD officer reported an incident of criminal mischief following his response to a fire alarm set off in The Ridges. It is unclear if the two events are related. The same day, another report of criminal mischief was filed at Sargent Hall for the destruction of broken light fixtures in a stairwell.

On Sept. 1 report of theft in an incident involving a missing banner from Bromley Hall.
Harassment and Assault
Additionally, an Ohio University student reported being the victim of unwanted telephone harassment. An assault report was filed at Bromley this week concerning an individual being pushed to the ground.
