Ohio U Campus Crime: Welcome Weekend? Or unwelcome nightmare?

Summer may be over for Bobcats new and returning; crime, however, does not take breaks. This Welcome Weekend, while many Ohio University students rang in their hOUmecoming, some celebrations were cut short.

Marijuana Drama

Ohio University Police Department cited nine students for possession of marijuana over Welcome Weekend, while five were cited for possession of marijuana paraphernalia.[AdSense-A]For the rest of the week, 12 additional citations were given on accounts of possession of marijuana. OUPD cited two more individuals for possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Party Poopers

Opening weekend, OUPD cited six individuals for underage consumption and intoxication; three more were arrested on the same charge. OUPD also cited three people for possession or use of fake IDs. During the first week of school, OUPD cited two students for being in possession of fake IDs, while only one student was cited for underage consumption and intoxication.

A case of possible violin-ce

On Aug. 25, OUPD received a report concerning damage to a vehicle caused by an unspecified musical instrument.

Carjacking redemption

OUPD successfully recovered a stolen custodial vehicle at the Clippinger Research Annex.

KleptOUmaniacs

On Aug. 29 at 10:09 p.m. OUPD received a report of stolen keys within West Green. The next day, another report was filed for the theft of a parking permit.

OVI

OUPD arrested a man on Aug. 29 at 12:19 a.m. for Operating a Vehicle under the Influence (OVI). The man was not wearing a seatbelt, nor were his headlights in proper order.

Assaults Reported

OUPD reported two cases of assault on Aug. 26. At 1:14 p.m., two males were assaulted at Sargent Hall. Nine minutes later, a male and a female were advised to separate due to a verbal argument concerning a welfare check.
