You can fire Michelle Ferrier, but you can't take away her Twitter account
The former Scripps administrator who is suing Ohio U for discrimination is calling out the school and her coworkers on Twitter.
[dropcap txtcolor="#204583" style="dropcap1"]M[/dropcap]ichelle Ferrier, the former Associate Dean of the Scripps College of Communication, sued Ohio U in July for discrimination based on her race and sex. Since then, she’s been tweeting at Ohio University and Scott Titsworth, the Dean of Scripps, to reiterate her stance against the university.[AdSense-A]Ferrier’s complaint alleged a history of mistreatment against African-American women in Scripps, and the university’s legal response admitted that she alerted them to this ongoing discrimination. Ferrier – who pioneered an anti-cyberbullying technology with her website TrollBusters – is now using Twitter to make sure people know about alleged abuse at Ohio U. The former administrator asked Titsworth what he was doing to stop what she calls years of abuse. Ferrier is most likely referencing the controversy surrounding former English professor Andrew Escobedo, who resigned in August after claims of sexual misconduct made by former students.https://twitter.com/mediaghosts/status/900740275093549056She also tweeted about the length of time it has taken Ohio U to review her claims of discrimination, tagging the official Student Senate account.https://twitter.com/mediaghosts/status/900367486109044738Another tweet accused Titsworth and Heather Krugman, Ohio U's Chief Financial Officer and Director of Operations, of ignoring cases of abuse.https://twitter.com/mediaghosts/status/900042719569096708[AdSense-A]She quoted a tweet by Ohio U Professor Greg Newton that congratulated 11 Scripps graduates from the School of Communication Studies and The School of Media Arts & Studies. https://twitter.com/mediaghosts/status/900041453031870466https://twitter.com/mediaghosts/status/900043957123637248Ferrier also called a tweet about the President’s Office’s commitment to an inclusive community “bulls*it” and insinuated that Scripps ignored complaints of harassment in a similar manner to the complaints filed against Escobedo. https://twitter.com/mediaghosts/status/900041233044844552Ferrier’s timeline references her own experiences at Ohio U and makes note of potential continued abuse in graduate programs. Recently, a tenured English professor resigned after allegations of abuse by two female graduate students. The New Political has reached out to Ferrier and is waiting to hear back.
