'I’m Shmacked' comes to Athens to promote #Halftime
The film crew of “I’m Shmacked” has been in Athens this week, getting ready for an appearance at The Number Fest’s newest fall-branded music festival, #Halftime.
“We got ‘I’m Shmacked’ so that, number one, we could put OU on the map with them,” said Logan Cassidy, regional manager of The Number Fest.
Described on their Facebook page as “one of the world’s fastest growing entertainment platforms for young adults and teens,” the film team goes from university to university across the country and creates videos displaying each school’s craziest parties.
“When [college students] hear ‘I’m Shmacked’ they think of the craziest parties because of their videos. So we definitely wanted to give people another incentive to come to the fest aside from the artists...give them a whole other element,” Cassidy said.
“I’m Shmacked” has been to many major party schools including West Virginia University, University of Colorado, and University of Wisconsin, all of which made Playboy’s Top 10 Party Schools 2013 list.
According to the “I’m Shmacked” twitter, the group is touring Ohio in their Fall 2013 Tour with schools like Kent State, Ohio State, Miami, and University of Cincinnati.
However, this is the first time that one of their tours will include a music festival.
“I heard from my friends that were in Cincinnati, where they were earlier in the week, it was pretty cool when they were there,” said Cody Gessel said, a junior who has gone to Number Fests 9 and 11 and plans to go to #Halftime.
“I think it’s cool that they are coming to our school, that we are notorious enough of a party school that they come here,” Gessel said.
#Halftime is part of The Number Fest brand name, but has its own fest and is meant to be the halfway point between The Number Fests.
“We wanted to implement another fest here in Athens just because the concert music event scene is kind of scarce,” Cassidy said.
The #Halftime line up includes Hoodie Allen, Riff Raff, Fareoh, and the Chainsmokers.
The event starts at 4pm, contrasting with past fests, which have gone on almost all day. The line up is smaller and the tickets are cheaper to emphasize the Halftime theme.
“This is going to be a new experience for us and for them,” Cassidy said.
